Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Zakat is an Obligatory form of alms paid on one’s wealth (in possession for the whole year) to those in need.
It is paid at a rate of 2.5% on most types of wealth, provided the wealth exceeds a minimum level known as the nisab (this is the equivalent of value, to 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver).
It becomes incumbent upon anyone who owns such an amount in any form to pay zakat.
When giving your Zakat through Helping Humainty you can be sure that it will be used to support and empower some of the most disadvantaged communities.
Your Zakat donations are handled with great care to ensure they reach an eligible recipient/family quickly and securely.
The beneficiaries of Zakat are those to whom Zakat should be given.
Allah Almighty has determined those by Himself in His statement:
{As-Sadaqât (here it means Zakât)
are only for the Fuqarâ’ (poor),
and Al-Masâkin (the poor)
and those employed to collect (the funds),
and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islâm);
and to free the captives,
and for those in debt,
and for Allâh’s Cause (i.e. in the path of Allah),
and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allâh.
And Allâh is All-Knower, All-Wise.}
[Surat At-Tawbah:60]
